Wimbledon Comes to Chastain

The pictures tell the story. Complete with homemade scones, strawberries and cream, traditional English cakes, champagne, and a full Wimbledon-themed spread, players from Chastain Park decided to celebrate the final week of their Mixed Doubles League match in style.

“We have enough Pimms to fill Lake Lanier,” said Christopher Jones, who along with his “mum,” Clare Jones, came up with the Wimbledon idea. The Jones family moved here from England in the late 1990’s and have been big ALTA supporters and members ever since.

It was a day meant for Wimbledon fun when they realized they were both at Chastain for the last match of the season. Both teams took it all in, as they came dressed in white and ready to play. Naturally, the skies were a bit iffy that day, as Christopher noted, “the weather looks like it will hold out, but it wouldn’t be Wimbledon without the threat of rain.” The day went off as planned, and just like a perfect cup of tea, as the Brits would say, it turned out to be a perfect end to the season. Cheerio!
