The USTA announced the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center as one of the 12 winners of the 36th annual USTA Facility Award Program. The program recognizes excellence in the construction and/or renovation of tennis facilities throughout the country.

Great tennis facilities like the Bitsy Grant Tennis Center help us to grow the game at the grass-roots level, and we are proud to recognize them for their ongoing impact on the sport of tennis, said Kurt Kamperman, USTA chief executive Community Tennis and the USTA National Campus. “The Bitsy Grant Tennis Center has embraced many of our tennis initiatives and kept the sport at the forefront of its community each year.”

Facilities were judged on overall layout and adaptation to site, excellence of court surface and lights, ease of maintenance, accommodations for players, spectators and press/officials, aesthetics, graphics, amenities and facilities participation in USTA programs.

Bitsy Grant has hosted numerous national and sectional championships. The facility currently has the only public soft courts (13) and the only public platform courts (three) in the Atlanta area. In addition, 69 ALTA teams, 25 USTA teams and Monday-Wednesday weekly round robins for senior players call the tennis center home.

All 2017 award winners will receive a wall plaque and an all-weather sign. Bitsy Grant will be honored on Oct. 11-15 at the Next Generation: A Tennis Innovation Workshop at the Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida.
