Senior Day tennis for men and for women is such a lovely opportunity for tennis fun. The Senior Day Leagues are played in the spring and fall; the two seasons of the year known for more comfortable, less extreme temperatures. Senior Day Women’s matches are played on Tuesday mornings, and Senior Day Men’s matches are played on Wednesday mornings. I think that it is nice to have a structured playing opportunity that is not always in the evening or on the weekend.

Matches, which include three lines of doubles for this league, begin at 10:00 a.m., which is a super time to start. Home teams often offer three courts, so all lines start at the same time. As such, matches usually are completed before 1:00 p.m., so you have the rest of the day to enjoy other activities. You must be 55, or turn 55 during the calendar year, to be eligible to play on a Senior Day League team.

Playing levels include AA, A, B, and C, ensuring a competitive experience for all players, regardless of ability. The playing season is structured like other ALTA leagues, with seven weeks of regular play, followed by playoffs and City Finals for teams that advance to the postseason. For the spring season in 2021, there are 90 men’s teams, and the total player count is 1,169. The player count for the women’s teams for spring 2021 is 3,051 women who are playing on 244 teams.

You may want to start a new team, as this is the only adult league where you can form a new team with only eight players. This is a great way to spend time with your friends and to meet new friends, as you enjoy playing tennis with enthusiasm, respect, and happiness.
