The fall 2019 season reflected an increase in the number of teams for Senior Day Women. Therefore, ALTA added a new C3 level for Senior Day Women. Prior to fall 2019, Senior Day Women only had one level for C’s, which was C1. This new level was met with positive feedback from the teams, captains and players, as they felt like they could have a more competitive season. So, if you are 55+ and play at the C level, consider forming a team with your friends for Senior Day Women.

The Senior Day Men’s Leagues also are going strong, but we always welcome growth and more teams.

Senior Day is a fun ALTA league that plays in the spring and fall. The women play at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays, and the men play at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. The Senior Day Leagues only play three lines of doubles for each match. So, all you need are eight players to form a roster. Since there are only three lines, matches typically are over by 1 p.m., so the rest of the day is open. ALTA members may join a Senior Day team any time during the year of their 55th birthday.

The Senior Day League is a good way to meet new friends and to play within your own age group. The matches are fun and competitive. As the Senior Day Leagues continue to grow, that should mean less travel for the matches.

Registration for the spring begins on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020 and ends on Monday, January 20. So spread the word and help grow our Senior Day Leagues. Introduce your friends to your team, or start a new team since this is the only league where you only need eight players to form a team. The only requirement is to be 55 years young or to be turning 55 in 2020.
