ALTA has a way of getting into your blood. Just ask Charity Schneider.

The former ALTA member moved from Kennesaw to Spokane in 2009. She began looking for a new tennis team. “I kept looking for players outside on all the courts – turns out, people play indoors here all year round.” She finally found a new tennis home in Spokane Racquet Club, but she kept tabs on ALTA through Facebook.

In addition to a new tennis home, she found a lifelong tennis partner in her new husband, Guy. The pair met at the Spokane Tennis Club in 2014. “In 2016, we were both asked to play on a USTA mixed team and were partnered together,” she said. “We had an undefeated season and did tournaments together and won.”

The couple began dating and soon after, Guy proposed. “It was only natural to get married at our tennis club,” she said. The wedding was planned around tennis seasons and tournament schedules. And, of course, tennis was the theme.

That’s where ALTA becomes part of the story again. Charity used Facebook to inquire about purchasing tennis balls with the ALTA logo for use in the wedding decor. An ALTA volunteer took on the project of getting the balls to Spokane.

“We are tennis fanatics, and we wanted our wedding day to be fun for everyone involved,” she said. “Our guests played tennis, had fun in the photo booth and said what a fun wedding it was.

“When I played ALTA, it was the same way. Tennis has always been a huge part of both of our lives and brought the two of us together – mixed doubles partners for life.”
