There are some foods that are just classics: You can’t go wrong with some macaroni and cheese, Grandma’s red velvet cake or peanut butter crackers. If those are your default for family dinners or a pre-tournament snack, try adding these culinary staples to your recipe collection for a bit of something new.

Cheese Wafers

Submitted in 1993 by Cynthia Friscia, South Fulton Tennis Center

2 cups sharp Cheddar cheese

2 sticks margarine

2 cups flour

2 cups Rice Krispies

¾ tsp. cayenne pepper

Grate cheese and combine with softened margarine in mixing bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Shape into small balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten balls with a fork. Bake in preheated 375-degree oven for about 20 minutes. Makes about six dozen wafers.
